CRYPTIC DARKNESS

An embittered skewed view of life
is fueled by turmoil and strife.
Cryptic darkness in one’s soul
is not a cherished goal,
but simply a persecutory role
we’re too paralyzed to control.

Lingering sorrow, misery, and regret
expose a depraved silhouette,
beset with bizarre grim delusions,
rendering anxious, depressed conclusions.
Surreal fantasies and hallucinations
foster illusions rife with confusion.

Derailment of cognitive facilities
exacerbates hot-tempered hostilities.
Paranoia infiltrates fragile emotions,
emerging as dysfunctional addictions.
A morose manner seeds frustration,
thrusting us into social isolation.

As we tumble into this gloomy abyss
the terror of loneliness truly exists.
Skyward we look for a ray of light
to extricate us from this plight.
Prophetic images cast their sight
on a lucent nirvana to end our blight.

John,
a little walk on the dark side, with all its entities, but leading us back to the light to show there is hope.

Hello John,  sun.gif

Wow! This was so well crafted, I felt myself falling into the deep depression you describe.

You set a mood which becomes blacker and blacker until I thought there was no way I could scrabble my way out of the pit and then you send down a beaming halo of light ~ attached to a strong cord to lift me back up.

It is easy to imagine that a nervous breakdown was taking place here.

Whew! Think I need a stiff drink to revive myself!  LOL.gif

Very clever.  smart.gif  No crits to offer at present. I want to read it a few more times to see if it has the same effect each time.

Love

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Grace,
Thank you for your remarks.  The piece is loosely based on some of the symptons of Schizophrenia and I was hoping to end it on a positive note.
