OUR START DATE FOR THIS YEAR'S MMHC is OCTOBER 26th AND WILL CLOSE ON DECEMBER 15th. PLEASE POST YOUR ENTRIES AS "NEW TOPICS' IN THE MMHC FORUM....


The owners and operators of the Mosaic Musings (MM) web site are extending an offer to its members to compete in a Holiday contest. The Holiday season has always been a special time for us and we wish to share with others, while providing opportunities for writers and artists to have some fun.
    Eligibility: xmastree.gif

    1. Only active members in good standing of Mosaic Musings (according to MM site rules) may post a submission.

    2. Each submitter must have been an active member in good standing at least one month prior to the start of the contest.

    3. Submissions must utilize the theme from one of the following holidays: Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Eid El-fitr and/or Winter Solstice.

    4. Submissions must be humorous and/or uplifting.

    5. Previous year's winner may not compete the following year.

    6. Only the first FIFTY submissions will be accepted for each contest. Each member may submit a maximum of TWO entries, with one exception: if we have not reached our target of FIFTY posts two weeks prior to the end date of December 7th, then members may submit more than two entries until we reach our target of 50, or the end date (whichever comes first).

    7. Submissions must be in the form of a short story (5,000 words or less) or poem (any form).

    8. All entries must be submitted by noon on December 15th.

    9. Mosaic Musings staff will deem appropriate content.

    10. Entries must be the original work of the writer.

    11. Entries must comply with all aspects of Mosaic Musings Terms of Use and Privacy Policy located in the forum and at the Home page, http://www.mosaicmusings.net/policies.htm.

    12. There is no entry fee required for this contest.

    13. Entries must be written and submitted in English.

    14. In odd numbered years, 2005, 2007, etc. images and artwork may be submitted.

    15. Either the owners of MM or the Sollars family will furnish the Holiday Classic prize money to Mosaic Musings.

    16. The $50 prize will be awarded for the final winning selection.

    17. The cash award is guaranteed by Mosaic Musings, LLC.

    1. Entries must comply with all aspects of Mosaic Musings Terms of Use and Privacy Policy located in the Site and at the Home page, http://www.mosaicmusings.net/policies.htm.

    2. Content displayed on the Site is protected under U.S. Copyright laws and cannot be copied, altered, uploaded, transmitted, published, distributed, reproduced or sold, in whole or in part for any purpose other than for non-commercial and personal use. Further restrictions on the Content may depend on the Forum Participation Rules associated with the Forum in which the Content is posted. All works posted on the Site are submitted on a voluntary basis. This allows Mosaic Musings to display and archive such works within Site, and if applicable, allows members to comment on such works. All exclusive rights are reserved by the respective copyright owners and no redistribution including publication or reproduction in any form is permitted without express permission of the copyright owner.

    3. Members will not post, transmit or otherwise make available any Content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, obscene, abusive, tortuous, defamatory, libelous, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable.

    4. Mosaic Musings is not liable for any loss or damage arising from entrant’s failure to comply with the Terms of Use located at http://www.mosaicmusings.net/policies.htm.

    5. If applicable (and with written permission by the entrants), all proceeds from the sale of any Holiday Classic chapbooks shall be deemed the property of Mosaic Musings web site, and shall be used as deemed appropriate by the owners and operators for the well being of the site.

    1. Voting for the finalists will be conducted by the staff of Mosaic Musings. Each will select their top three choices, which will then be forwarded to the Sollars family. If the Sollars family is unreachable, then the staff will vote in a poll.

    2. In the event that a submission receives multiple votes by the staff, those pieces are automatically included as a finalist.

    3. In the event that less than 10% of all submissions receives votes, then all receiving votes are finalists.

    4. Voting will be conducted from December 15th to end of day, December 28th, 2007.

    5. All decisions of the judges are final.

    1. Contents will be accessible to members real time, whenever possible. The contest for the ‘Mosaic Musings Holiday Classic’, will close for judging at noon on December 15th.

    1. The Butch Sollars family will be the sole judges in selecting the annual winner from the finalists selected by the staff member votes. If the Sollars family cannot be reached, then the MM Staff will choose the winner.

    2. The winner will be announced on January 17th, or somewhere thereabouts.

    3. The winner and finalists will be posted on Mosaic Musings site.

    4. All decisions of the judges are final.

    5. Judging will take place within 14 days following the closing of the contest. Please allow an additional 14 days for the announced winners to be notified.

    1. The prize winner will be notified by email.

    2. Non-winners will not be notified of contest results.

    3. All entries will be archived in our 'members-only' forum, 'MMHC Halls of Montezuma'.

It's hard to believe that 4 weeks have already passed since the opening of this year's MMHC (Holiday Classic) competition!

Hoping to read some submissions soon - there are just 3 weeks remaining now as I've edited the end date to the 14th instead of the 7th.

I also just received our 2009 Motivations MM wall calendars too. PLease let me know your mailing addresses so you can enjoy a complimentary copy!
