Mosaic Musings...interactive poetry reviews _ Forum FAQs _ Personal Messenger Storage limits

Posted by: Cleo_Serapis Apr 23 06, 10:00

Hi all.

On the Invision Board, I am able to define the storage limits for Personal Messages.

Max. Number of storable messages?

I have set the limits for each group as follows (in respective order);

Cheers!

This is probably a silly Q, Lori, b u t ... what happens if we excede that? Does it delete old PMs in favour of new ones? or does it sulk and refuse to accept mail? (One would hope the former, but, as I'm married to a programmer I never take common sense for granted, rofl.gif)

Hi Fran.

I'm not certain about deletions, but it definitely won't allow you to accept any new mail.

On the test site, I tried to send you a PM and I couldn't because it told me your storage max has been reached and I had to remove you from the cc list in order to send it the others. So, you won't be able to receive any new PM's once your storage max is reached. I'm not certain if you would be able to send PM's - I would think so.

AS for the purging - I would have to check, but I suspoect it would NOT delete anything unless I have set up a purge in the Admin CP.

I recommend printing or saving PM's offline so as not to bog down the MM servers if possible if you are heading to the 300 PM's mark. upside.gif

Hi

You can archive messages from the control panel and what this will do is send you copies of the PMs, within the time frame you specify, as a single attachment to your email address. You can choose either an Excel datafile or an html doc.

I haven't tried it yet but will do later.

Oh, now that's COOL Nina! dance.gif

thanks.gif for the info!

I didn't get a chance to try that yet myself. blush.gif

Peter tells me even with the Ikonboard database still on our server right now AND all 26 skins we are supporting at the moment and a slew of other tidbits, we are only hedging 6% of our server consumption at this time.

Well - as the saying goes, I can always change the limit through the Admin CP....

Thanks, Lori, Peter

I'll just have to remember to keep it tidy (like my desk rofl.gif)

We were spoilt on the Ikonboard having unlimited storage of PMs. I'm not very disciplined at deleting mine.

Hi Lori,

Am I right in assuming that "from" is a typo for "to"?

Cheers, J.
