I was cut out of homes
I tried to make sweet
Sweet as July orange juice
in a Florida morning

I left these houses
like a man that knew adventure
but really just collapsed in
the devil's false embrace

Now as I look into eyes
that look back into mine
Deep, and careful
Like ocean's where
the savagery of wildlife
has faded back to Eden
God glides into my homelessness
and with every step I take
I can feel the place he is
preparing
