Hi,

I am here because criticalpoet.com has come upon some hard times, possibly end times, and Eisa graciously pointed us to this forum.

I have been writing poetry formal and free for almost 30 years. I have published poetry under the auspices of nowculture.com

I've been called posthumous, posty, postie, and Don (and other things, but I'd rather not repeat those).

Thanks for having me!

Hi Posty,

I'm glad you made it here - welcome to Mosaic Musings!

I've only been writing for about 13 years, so I'm quite a newbie compared to you. I'm sure your expertise will be valued here.

Make yourself at home

Eira

Hi Posty or Don,

Kinda macabre to say hello on the night before Halloween to someone who goes by the handle "posthumous" but
you're more than welcome to put down roots, pull up a comfy chair and write/critique or read to your hearts content.
We are always glad to have another writer wander in either through a referral or by happenstance as I did a few
years ago.

I've been writing for about 40 years or so and have been on numerous sites but have found this one to be the most
welcoming of them all. Like many others, our membership has scattered but there are a few diehards like myself
who now refuse to budge any more.

I look forward to reading your posts and helping in any way I may.

Larry

When power leads man toward arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the areas of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of his existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

Welcome to Mosaic Musings, posthumous! I also sent you a message, but now see that you've already introduced yourself. As I don't live in the USA, we don't celebrate Halloween...therefore, your name isn't scary to me...mmm....well, perhaps I'll pick another one all the same!

I think we'll all be able to learn a lot from you. Still, we have some excellent sonnet writers, as well as of many other forms of poetry, apart from FV. Larry excels at sonnets. Recently he posted a lovely Huitain.

I started writing in 1995, but in Spanish, for a Buenos Aires newspaper. When they closed that column down, I skipped over here. Have been uninspired this year.

Don, make yourself comfortable. Looking forward to reading your poetry, very much indeed.
Cheers,
Sylvia a.k.a. Psyche

The Lord replied, my precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.

Pours by like destiny, bending

Greeting Posty/Don, and WELCOME TO MM! Newbie.gif PartyFavor.gif Balloons.gif

I'm so sorry to hear that The Critical Poet is closing, but perhaps MM can be your new poetry home? Admittedly, it seems that social media in general has curbed much of the "old" (funny to say that) forum boards such as the EZ boards and here too. BUT, we still have active postings and I am very happy to see that! I have been remiss in posting the weekly and monthly challenges, but will rectify that today. The challenges are meant to spark the muse and allow the writer to shake the old writer's block blues with random words and other unrelated topics to respond to. Some will then take those responses, refine them and post them in a critique forum. dance.gif Personally, I haven't written much poetry in a while, although I DO check in here daily and may not respond. I must rectify that! magictongue.png

We offer honest, yet friendly feedback in our workshopping forums so I hope you'll find yourself at home here. odie.gif There are many members here with different skill levels and technique, which makes MM more comfortable, diverse and challenging. sings.gif cheer.gif

Please, wander our halls, take in our colorful 'tiles' and join in the fun. hsdance.gif Idea.gif If you would be so kind, one of the first things we ask is to share a bit of your goals with us. What level of critique you would like to receive on your topics?

Each forum has its own 'forum participation rules' posted in a link at the top of the forums, so please check them out: Click HERE to read .

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me, Eisa (Rhapsody) or any of our staff (AMETHYST, Arnfinn, Eisa, JLY, Psyche and Imhotep). rose.gif margarita.gif mm.gif mm.gif

Collaboration feeds innovation. In the spirit of workshopping, please revisit those threads you've critiqued to see if the author has incorporated your ideas, or requests further feedback from you. In addition, reciprocate with those who've responded to you in kind.

thank you for the prodigious welcome!

as to my goals... I don't completely trust my poems, those little devils, so I like to show them to other people who can point out problems I am blind to. Often, I will forget that I left something unexplained, or something will have the completely wrong tone, or I just simply made a typo or left out a word.

But I also like to hear the impression the poem made on you. You might find nothing to critique or change, but the poem might leave you flat anyway. I'd like to hear that. If not flat, then what emotions did the poem evoke, or what tone did it convey? Does it remind you of Miley Cyrus, a walk in the park, or Shakespeare? I'd love to know.

in other words, I want critique on every level.
