Christmas Fare.

With turkey, plum pudding and candies:
nuts, chocolate, beer, wine and brandies:
there’s feasting and dancing is to celebrate!
Even children are allowed to stay up late,
these are the Xmas joys, folks know so well.
When comes the New Year? Who can tell?

Upset stomach and a killer headache:
so much stuffing, our teeth now ache.
Our alcohol level's past saturation,
drinking hard we showed no moderation!
It's the same old story - year after year.
Me make New Year Resolutions? No fear!

Xmas can take one to a wonderful state,
when we eat and drink like an inebriate,
and feel it's acceptable to over indulge,
though it’s soon plain, our waist lines bulge!
But the chance to eat and drink like a hog
is rare, so let's have another hair of the dog!

Surely one more drink won't do any harm,
if it helps us forget the festive charm.
It’s later, perhaps when we've sobered up,
and there's no wine or beer left for us to sup,
chances are I'll be feeling miserable and low,
and to rub it in, now I’ve to shovel heavy snow!
