Hi! I'm Ellen from the east coast of Canada. Well at least that is where I have lived most of my adult life, but I was born and raised in Ontario. Writing has always been my passion and therapy for as long as I can remember. Even as a small child I tended to think in rhyme, so I lean toward rhyming poetry, but also write an occasional short stories. At one time I wished I had more time to write. Now, since an impaired driver put me in a wheelchair, I have lots of time to write, but not always the ability to sit or type much since my hands were badly broken and a more aggressive arthritis has set in. I hope you will get a chance to check out my poem "LUCKY???" Perhaps writing it is one of the reasons I am still alive against all odds. I wrote for therapy and hope it will make some people stop to think before they go out to drink.

Reading is great but I can't always type a comment at the time I first read something. Hopefully I will remember to go back to comment when my hands are more tolerable. So, please be patient with me if I seem slow at doing things around here. I look forward to getting to know the folks here.

Thanks for another welcome Cleo. grinning.gif To be honest, I don't really know a lot about styles and forms. But I am rather old school and tend to write mostly quatrains with varying rhyme schemes. I would appreciate honest critiques on whatever level will help to improve my writing. I've been trying to wander the halls but I get lost easily. LOL Still I am not a quitter so I will find my way around someday. Going to go exploring now. Thanks again.

Good morning Ellen - It is always a joy to welcome a new writer to our Forum. I am certain that you will find it beneficial, both intellectually, and therapeutically, to read and comment on other writers' work.
When the pain in your fingers is troublesome - a very few well chosen words can speak volumes! I too have rheumatoid arthritis in my fingers - so know the effort involved in typing at length - yet we have several members who write under very difficult physical circumstances - so you will not be alone.
Keep wandering the Halls - you will probably bump into one of us, coming the other way.
Look forward to meeting you,
Leo

Hello and Welcome Ellen,

This is now my home away from home and a very stimulating site to be associated with when you want excellent critique and loads of good help in polishing your gems of thought.
I do hope you find it as nice a place to be as I have. Look forward to reading more of your work.

Larry

Hello Ellen,
Welcome to our little family of poets. Jester.gifI hope you will find MM as gratifying as I have in sharing your poetry, ideas and skills. I see you already know my dear friend Annie (jacantina) so that calls for an even bigger welcome! Guitar.gif

I look forward to reading your work and don't worry about it being "old style", many of us here are lovers of traditional verse.

I too was in a motor accident and seriously injured. You are among friends who understand what fighting pain is all about.

Hugz from South Africa,

Wally
