What follows is my response to Maureen's fine piece, utilizing the words star love stole tax recollect Burgundy snip twenty mask sparkle

The Stupefied Stalker

I saw you there and followed you
while following that star;
I had to when I saw your mask
and wondered who you are.
I felt your love; it stole my heart;
I recollect no tax
but tasted Burgundy, I think
and wished you would relax.
I sensed some struggle you were having
somewhere deep inside;
you started talking to yourself
about some things you hide.
Though I could only catch a snip
from words that happened out:
when you were twenty-one or so
some surety turned to doubt
and purgatory sucked you in.
I'll have that fire no more!
Yet now you chance to love again
and open up that door.
I see you taking off your mask;
the sparkle in your eyes
would match the light of any star
that twinkles in the skies.
Then suddenly... the mask again.
what happened to you there?
I didn't have a chance to meet
you; now I weep and stare.

Hi Daniel,

Sorry about my lack of comment. I saw your post after Maureen's X10 but, like many other readers, didn't let you know someone had been there. I was glad you moved it into its on little thread. It was a funny but creepy rebuttal of Maureen's poem which was a bit introspective and sad. Hope it didn't depict a real-life event.
Anyway, I did enjoy your input and apologize for sitting on my hands.

I grinned and am chagrined!

Larry

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Larry.

Of course it's not a rebuttal of Maureen's but rather a follow-up of a follower of the person in her, as you said, sad and introspective poem. Yes, I suppose that my stalker seems a bit creepy, but really he's just bashful and hesitant; in this case he hesitated way too long and it frozen in his inaction, probably afraid to attempt an introduction for fear of rejection.

Of course this does not depict a specific situation in my own life, though I could certainly identify with the chagrin of this person... and yours! LOL
