Greetings all.
As you likely noticed, we've been offline since approximately 03:30AM EST (08:30 AM GMT) due to a severe ice storm that came through the Northeastern United States last night and this morning. Unfortunately, nothing short of a generator would prevent that kind of outage for a self-hosted site, and since it doesn't happen all that often (this is the first power outage I can recall of that duration since we moved here) it's not something we're currently thinking of investing in..
On the bright side, it does prove that the system restores itself, the database rebuilds itself, and the multi-disk hard drive RAID setup we have provides the fault tollerance we've strived to have to keep the system as available as practical.
