Mosaic Musings...interactive poetry reviews _ Fixed Form and Rhyming Poetry for Critique -> Herme's Homilies _ Alone

Alone

Alone within my mind I wile
away the years trying to find
a new poetic thought or style.
Alone within my mind I wile

and wonder if there’s any kind
that stands the test of time or trial.
Old masters of the craft designed

the forms I use and might compile
into a book or two. Resigned
to facts that it might take a while
alone within my mind.

Well, I'm glad that my posing the form in Karnak produced "a loan in your mind," Larry. It will collect interest, I'm sure... if not here in MM, perhaps All Poetry?

Sorry I've not been here the last couple of days; I've been rollicking in AP.

Hey Daniel,

I went over to AP and signed up today. Most of what I saw except for your posts were free verse and a bunch of disconnected mental meanderings. Am I supposed to critique such things or what?

Glad you liked my first two baby steps in the two new forms.

There definitely are a lot of folks with disconnected mental meanderings. It's a HUGE site, but once you're there and join a few groups, you'll find that GOOD poets will find you. I just don't comment on junk, unless someone posts to me and I make a courtesy visit and make small observations while ignoring the rest. Some have really appreciated; one even asked me privately to virtually rewrite it for her! Actually that would be easier for quite a number that I've read. LOL

Hi Daniel,

I have found what you say to be true about a lot of the posts. One small item got to me after I had posted my 3rd piece on the site. I couldn’t view my poem until I had made at least two observations on posts of their choosing. Thank God there were two of those that were offered where I could make a non-committal generic answer. Perhaps it will get better when I find some groups that actually write “poetry” or decent prose.
