Delectable Discoveries

Safari fluttered along a path to
nowhere, cerulean blue ponds
greeting a swallow of sojourn.

The fragrance of vivid violets
and poignant plum trees tantalized
her sagacity pursuing gray gravel.

Sweet William and pale yellow
yarrow moonshine reinforce
her craving to dive into this
delectable discovery.

Resting on brown rock cress mud
puddles, “Siberian”, the tiger
swallowtail, indulges rosy-flowered
sizzling swamp Milkweed.

Satiating strawberries and lemon
mint mingle with white baby’s breath
wrapping vigorous vines aloft.

Safari takes flight following
the path to ecstasy. She spots
Siberian, flutters past and lands
on bundled black-eyed susan.

To her amazement, just beyond
lies a countryside of purple
asters, lavender and pink coreopsis
nosing for a nibble.

Siberian wastes no time
feeding on the red bee balm
hidden by tall forest green and
buttery beige grasses.

In the frenzy, the two take their
fill of orange- golden marjoram,
crimson clover, red snapdragon and
maroon sedum, scarcely saluting
the others prowling presence.

At the conclusion of the
journey, Nature’s nectars
find meaning in life. If only
Safari and Siberian had?

Abundantly graceful, as mysterious as a bit of winged discovery trailside,
as immediate as breathing familiarity, and appropriately foreign.

Fully appreciating,
Brahms
