A woodpecker pecks at his door...
syncopation that he'd heard before:
a rat-a-tat-tat
he's back in combat...
and feathers and blood straw the floor.

A lot going on here Daniel. I like this look at a vet. The use of the limerick form with its concomitant expectations works well to provide the twist.
