Nature’s Magic Markers ….or
The Tanning Process
That big yellow ball in the sky, expose yourself too long, you fry, beams down plenty of UV rays, even sneaks thru a light haze.
Day one, color yourself a light pink, at poolside, sipping a drink, day two, showing a bit of red, fortunately evenly spread.
Next day it rained, process begins, some changes within the skin, use the marker with the very light tan, getting darker, that is the plan.
Shades of tan markers, neatly in a row, slowly taking on a nice glow, end of the week, the tanned god look, not once subjected to a sun cook.
Every day, lay back in my pool chair, looking good, of that I am aware, notice the gals, giving a stare, at least not one of despair.
Brings back memories of South Pacific days, tropical islands, felt like a castaway, back to the present, into the pool, on a hot day, one way to keep cool.

Greetings Larry,
So that's where you've been hiding out - poolside? God, I wish I was back in the South Pacific, tan or no tan. I'm surprised that I'm still holding on to the pigments nine months after leaving Hawaii. May your markers last as long. :sun:
Love the first stanzas. I hopped along with your light hearted rhythm as if running 'round the pool until...here are my suggestions to tighten it up a little.
Next day it rained, process begins, some changes within the skin, use the marker with the very light tan, - remove the? getting darker, that is the plan.
Shades of tan markers, neatly in a row, - remove tan, already established? slowly taking on a nice glow, end of the week, the tanned god look, not once subjected to a sun cook.
Every day, lay back in my pool chair, - remove my? looking good, of that I am aware, notice the gals, giving a stare, at least not one of despair.
Brings back memories of South Pacific days, - remove days? tropical islands, felt like a castaway, - remove a? back to the present, into the pool, on a hot day, one way to keep cool.
Please spare your lightning bolts as I'm a slow ducker! Humbly,
David

Hello Larry~
How are you doing? This is such a "sunny" piece! (could'nt resist) :)
You did a great job in communicating how sunburns, although at first feel and look good, end up coming back to haunt us!
Reminiscing about your precious memories in the South Pacific is touching and sweet too!
Shades of tan markers, neatly in a row, slowly taking on a nice glow, end of the week, the tanned god look, not once subjected to a sun cook. Thanks, for sharing and wear your sunscreen. (I do!!!) :pharoah2
Take care~ Lindi

What a fun piece! Of course, I turn a red lobster fry myself, BUT that's another story! :karate: This was a good look into the inevitable!

You should probably add one syllable here to make it match the rest of S1: even sneaks thru a light subtle haze.
