AUTUMN TWILIGHT

Wind sculptured the escarpments,
painted them russet over yawning villages.
Undulating willow-branches
brushed borders of rivers
flowing into austral sunsets.
Everything prepared for sleep
except the ruthless wind.
Silhouettes of whistling poplars
marked the divide
between day and spectral night.
Wind governed all of life.
Autumn shed a myriad leaves
from half-naked branches
outlined against sprinting clouds.
Still, twilight filtered through
like shafts of gold
determined to dispense
with phantoms of approaching darkness.
Yet I believe it was the wind
that caressed the hollows
of unnamed absences.

Thank you, Cleo !  :)
Did my best, but it's not totally new, just made a few tweaks now...
A question: What happens if my Patagonian collection is published
sometime in the next months?  :read:
I've posted two or three from that unedited collection, but u never know, Lady Luck might strike.... :)  What then?
Do tell...
Best and thank you,
Psyche

Hi Psyche,

Do not hand this woman a blow dryer! Surely, given more bluster, you'd blow the entire world to dust, if not only the Continent South! LOL.gif

And there's home sweet home, Patagonia! Your windy roots are whistling again! And you whistle so well. I liked how you gave old poetic standards new life with "spectral night" and "sprinting clouds."

And a provocative ending...

Yet I believe it was the wind
that caressed the hollows
of unnamed absences.

Es muy bonita, muchacha! :pharoah2

Everybody must think Patagonia is all bluster  :) .... but no !! It's a fantastic, most beautiful land, with plenty of sun, light breezes and, of course, the majestic Andes bordering the West.
I'm glad u like my poem and will try to send cleaner air from now on  :blush21:
i see your Spanish is improving !!!  :pharoah2  Taking lessons?!
All the best, Tao,
