"It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step into the Road, and if you don't keep your feet, there is no knowing where you might be swept off to." ~ J.R.R Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings

Collaboration feeds innovation. In the spirit of workshopping, please revisit those threads you've critiqued to see if the author has incorporated your ideas, or requests further feedback from you. In addition, reciprocate with those who've responded to you in kind.

"I believe it is the act of remembrance, long after our bones have turned to dust, to be the true essence of an afterlife." ~ Lorraine M. Kanter

When power leads man toward arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the areas of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of his existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

... taking the ends of both of your original pieces:

shun
correct
suggestions
and syllables
can get out of sorts
because they lose focus
and you cannot count on them
because they don't pay attention
to their contractional requirements

mimosa is a total tree

mint
into
my tea pot
orchestrates a
symphony of real
additives which may treat
indigestion if you pour
some of it in a glass for me
as I relax in the back yard’s shade

shade
your eyes
from the light
when driving east
right around sunrise
or you may meet traffic
that comes the other way;
they have no trouble seeing you
but your seeing them could be too late

laughs are ephemeral

late
asleep,
unknown sigh
gets you awake;
hearing what you dream
starts you thinking of some
apparitions you might fear,
relaxing with chuckles and a
euphoria when they are not real

RIGHTEOUS LINGERING

real
if I
go on in
high-minded hug
testing my entrance
enchanted by all her
ominous beauty that I
undulate in while I hang on
standing here aghast before leaving

lower your eyes and go

leave
or stay
when you see
excellent forms,
read each area;
you’ll find poetry can
occupy the writer’s mind
unless it is closed so please bring
respect and critique for those who do

honing our skill sets

has
our work
nuclei
inspired no call-
nurturing appeal,
giving some impetus
or are we just biding our time
until others come and we test
resultant offerings for ourselves

collapse
with too much
wait for others

whatever comes to mind
even though onlookers doubt
we have one with any substance
other than soot and burnt candle whacks

since a club
has its uses,
exacts punishment
dealt for criteria;
fortunately no one can
organize that and each critic
reading our work must light a candle
