Dearest Sylvia,

My deepest condolences on your loss... I wish that life will someday place me at your door... There is always hope. I would love to check your hometown...

I have missed sharing a lot with you and the rest of our family here at MM. Perhaps this trip will give me that chance.

I live in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia .. My mom has been spending the last 4 years between Damascus and Denver.

My country and people have been globally abused these past few years but there have so many humane acts, globally, that there is always hope...

Your thoughts have reached me and so has your sweet warmth... I appreciate and think of you fondly and will always remember your insights and encouragement. Our friendship is my personal gem.

Always with me my sweet Psyche

Hugs

Dear sisters and brothers in poetic arms, by the Grace of God, I will be in US waters on November 25th... I'm arriving at NYC JFK airport 11:30 a.m. Ad will take an inner flight to Denver early that same evening..

I plan to visit my family there and in some way it feels like I'm closer to the friends with whom I have shared my soul... I do hope that fate will bless us in meeting each other someday.

Hugs and much love

Hey Daniel,

I've been wondering where you were!!! So true. A lot has changed and has happened, but what comforts the mind is that love perseveres like it has here.

Waiting to interact.

Hey Eira hny,

It's good to be writing again...

Yes this is about aging... About still feeling young hence the (pigtails) and yet the reality of the physical acts of simply brushing the hair and styling is a chore in itself for the lady...

I think u are right about the dashes, the simple line break would be enuf... Thanx for that...

I chose the ending to fit well with the optimism I wanted to point out and am glad it worked..

I still remember. Show and not tell.. :)

Hugs

Pigtails

A handful of bristles
shakily sink into strands
now dark and grey.

Sliding downwards;
insecure,
they skip the deeply set
tangled mess.

Dangly arms now strain
to equally part
those greying locks into two,
unmindful of the jagged edges
within.

Fogged sight
assures the mind
of the "obvious" perfection
seen.

A weak smile
permeates the inner sanctum
of memory.

As two bands circle strands
in uneven twists
feathery threads
unwittingly spike free.

Done,
the reflection greeted
is framed by optimism;
that those tresses-
'till now-
carry a lift and bounce
when moved.

QUOTE (Psyche @ Apr 3 15, 07:05 ) *
Dear Dani,

I have thought of you often through the chaos of my own life, believe me dear friend.
And the chaos of the world around us, full of wars and changing scenarios that I would never have imagined during that "happier, simpler time" that you recall.

And I even thought of e.mailing you, but to my distress it never got past the thought...

I remember your lovely, sometimes distraught poetry...and wondered to what part of the world you'd moved.

Sharing your true essence with us all using the magic of word expression is something that I hope you'll renew as soon as possible. I look forward to your posts very much indeed.

As Eira has said, it's quiet here...a shame! Facebook seems to be the main culprit! Are you a member?

MM offers great critiquing and comments, I used to learn so much here.

I'm no longer a constant, but perhaps if some of us start posting again, part of the good times can be regained. I'm not very inspired, having lost my husband in January 2015, after a 15-year illness. I miss so much embracing him...

(((hugs))),
Syl*** aka Psyche

Dearest Sylvia,

First off, I am truly sorry for your loss... I can understand the yearning for the warm embrace of a loved one...it is not easy, but would a cyber hug do? :)

Well I live in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. My mo, grandma, aunts and uncles and their families are in Damascus and Beirut... This struggle for power has increased the death count to a level of normalcy that has become extremely inhumane...

The stories and images I have heard and witnessed are crippling to the soul...

The scenarios have changed. The souls have become harsher, deeply disturbed and unforgiving... And the problem is that it all happened just as people became more enlightened and appreciative of their differences in cultures, tradition and religion...

I wish we would promote love... Let's promote love and understanding....

As for not being able to get past the thought of emailing me... Well your response here is more than enough to make up for all that. I have posted a webpage on Facebook showcasing my poems but honestly it's not the same... We must learn and must progress...

So let's make an effort to recap the magic here...

Hugs

Dani

Dear Dani,

It is so good to hear from again. I miss your work an your presence here. I really hope to see more of you - it is quiet here at the moment so having you around would liven things up a bit. I hope to read your work again soon.

Dearest Eira,

I'm hoping to get back on the saddle. I have written something which I will post in a bit...

I miss the learning... I miss the insights of others. And yes. Let's liven things up.

Time has carried me away into a distance from the core of who I am and what I have shared long ago with the founder and older members of this site..

I recalled a happier simpler time and I sought you out, realizing that through the chaos of my life , at that time, my connection to you all and the sharing of the magic in word expression is the true essence of me.

I hope to be a constant again..

Miss you all so much!

Dear Eira,

Even when time passes by, the soothing tone of your words still reach me...

I enjoyed the revision...

The sadness, the disheartened inner struggle to thwart it off holds on through..

I love the use of Greek mythology...

To me, it lends a certain lightness to the SAD you had mentioned.

Enjoyed the read my dear.

Hi Peggy,

You have likened the sense of this poem to one of the greats. I'm deeply touched by that. Your comments are enlightening and true. I do like your suggestion on the title, but I do think that "Blink" is on the spot for me. Thanks so much dear.

Hi Lori,

It's wonderful to return and start writing again. A lot has been happening these past few years and with stress words disappear. Thank you for the wishes and hopefully this war will end soon.

As I said to Peggy, I feel that "Blink" is the right choice on this one. But thank you so much for the suggestion.. Looking forward to sharing more and being an active member again...

Dear Sylvia,

It makes me proud to me in the midst of this community. The tragedies in Syria are increasing by the hour. I'm happy to say that my mom is now in Denver, so it's a semi relief for me. I still have family in Damascus, though.

Each one of us has gone through a certain type of war. We have struggled and braved different levels in our lives. It's not easy. You are a mother who has lost 2 sons and that war you've lived in keeping your faith is no easy feat..

Sylvia, yes the cosmos is grander than a life of a single person. But that person, even if a blink, is a necessity to this cosmos.

If we didn't blink, our eyes would strain and dry out.

I miss interacting and am humbled by your sweet comments and warmth.

Hey Larry,

It's good to move in slowly. Trying to get back my poetic voice.

Ever grateful

Dear Daniel,

Today's bombings in Damascus we right in front of my parents house. My mom was in there.. The threat to her life and lives of other family members is as real as every breath you take.

Her life is of no consideration to those men. It's feeble.

Perspective. Isn't that what life is all about ?

Thanks for dropping in hny..

Dear Daniel,

You flow so naturally in your expressiveness that you make every poem a form of unique art.

This spoke to me... It felt personal. Her plodding and blindness to the heart that is always there to embrace her in her time of need.

So far I see nothing I would change. It's just perfect.

Always

Thanks for dropping in. I was considering, "Mass Death" for a title. Any thoughts?

Well gloominess is all that I can let out of me at this stage.

Wow Eira,

I just love the revision. I found the change in S2 breathtaking. You showed me the bed, made me sense its ominous presence.

I agree with transferring S5 to the end. Definitely a better ending.

The love is there, the sweet sorrowful memory... The need for cleanliness in the midst of the chaos of a falling life..

You caressed my poetic senses with this one.

Wonderful!
Dani

What is age
but a numerical extension
of our time above ground.

A countdown that begins
embryonically;
mileage pre-calculated
defining you.

Choice?
A fabrication;
mirage, within the bars of life's rule book.

We're but a feeble light
cast-off into nothingness,
set to fade
in a vast night.
