Thank you Nina,

Some very good lists of seven.  I was playing with seven seas, which is mostly travel agencies.  Turns out there is an ancient list hardly known anymore.

Red Sea
Mediteranean Sea
Persian Gulf
Black Sea
Adriatic Sea
Caspian Sea
Indian Ocean

Rudyard Kipling wrote a book of poems titled Seven Seas, which I found totally in e-format.

You may be assured if the project is successful it will be posted at MM.

Thanks again Nina.

Thank you Jox for the  detailed breakdown.  A lot of effort on your part for which I heartily thank you.  Your comment that it probably would be a common choice not likely in the small group accepting this challenge of a crown sonnet.

You offering is unique and literary.

Don

Hi Don.

We should post a poetic challenge in Karnak - the idea would be to write seven form poems and link the chosen topic together. We could call it Hepta Crown a la Mosaic or something? For example, topic: writing instruments - poem forms: Haiku, Rictameter, Nonet, Sonnet, Swap Quatrain, Terza Rima, Cinquain...

What do you all think? :D

Hi Don.

Hi Lori,

My first impression is that subject connected poems tend to be a lot of work.

A loose connection such as love, life, travel, etc. might be easier.  Would the contestant be allowed to choose the connecting feature. For instance a connection may be an identical couplet rather than subject.

Why limit contest to form poems?  We have more free versers to tap.

I like the idea of the total consisting of mixed forms (I consider free verse a form).  Pantoums tend to be haunting, Clerihews tends to be flippant, sonnets tend to be serious and so forth.  Multiple types would allow various tones or moods to same subject.  By same token we should allow all to be same type such as free verse, which can be all themes and tones.

I think this idea for a contest is fine.  I also think the staff or informal group should mull it over for concensus.

It certainly has potential.

Don
