Nearing Solstice
Days have grown shorter, winter has wrapped its deep white coat around the shoulders of the ground. I have spotted the tracks of raccoon, deer and lots of birds have been by the berry bushes to fill up on daytime snacks. Soon Dad and I will make our annual trek out into the woods in search of a tree for the solstice celebration, and Yule log for the fire. Dad says that this year there even might be enough for some mint candy, and a small bottle of toilet water for mom. I made a stick doll with a straw head, a scrap of cloth as a dress to give to sis. How much better can a holiday get than this?
