Greetings arrive on gossamer wings
the bright length of the day at hand
breath -- a birth -- joy within us sings
round a parlor tree -- the piano grand.

Oh how I wish -- and wish on it again
the lord himself on this his natal day --
ah so many lonely centuries it’s been --
would return in the jolly man’s sleigh.

Hey, Richard...

I was drawn in here by your Emily Dickenson title, though I was curious why the poem should be in this forum, since she wrote in rhyme and form...

and I was not disappointed in the flavor of this little piece. Emily would surely smile at this combining of the Lord's birth with Santa...

but I was right that this is posted in the wrong forum. I think you can expect Lori to arrive soon and move it to where it "belongs" since this is of course not free verse.

I loved the reading, Richard. Look forward to more.

P.S. Did you know that my pen name is MLee Dickens'son ? (My dad's name was Marshall Lee, thus the MLee, and my mother used to say to me, "When your dad gets home, you're gonna get the Dickens. Well, I did, so I KEPT it, thus I am MLee Dickens'son!)
