Melted, based on local murder Options

MELTED

His grandparents shot in bed;
Both at rest, bloody dead.
Odious sight for a boy of four,
too sick instead to play anymore.

He ran a very long mile
to relay grim reaper’s smile,
“They’re melting,” he implored,
“like ice cream flows on floor.”

For this child also knew
his life was a puddle too.
Now his link to love is loss;
Society assigned a foster boss.

It sums up gunshot wounds metaphorically.........to a 'T'

Hi Arnfinn,

The grandparents were parents because a daughter did not want the boy anymore.

They were shot while sleeping by a married son thinking he would inherit a large sum to pay large overdue debt.  He was arrested almost immediately.  

The boy discovered the scene early next morning and ran more than a mile to a school he was attending.  His words were never put into published quotation.  He is reported to have erxclaimed they were melting like strawberry ice cream on the floor.  The melting caught my muse for a verse of record.  

I chose the play part because that is what young boys enjoy most, and his playmates were too sick to play.

Trust this explanation helps a little.
