I've long found this site as the most magnetic on the internet. Yes, magnetic, strong in attraction, strong on repulsion!
Why?
As to repulsion, these factors:
The heavy commitment to pure verse
The lack of interest in meter, syllable counts sufficing,
The difference in pronunciations across the "pond"
The hi-tech aspect of it all (I'm illiterate cyber-wise)
The competitive aspect
As to attraction:
Your management
The talent available here
The fertility allover
I've found that my style, which I call "light verse" (sorta tongue in cheek), is really close to doggerel. Only one site, now extinct, has ever recognized a "room" for those few of us who are more motivated by humor and relaxed requirements than by pure poetry and a strong desire to improve per other's critiques.
I've been searching for a home for several years now that PoemsPlace went under.
I post now at six sites, none of which has a room suitable for those like Carroll, Field, Burgess, Pound, Auden, Shel..., Seuss, etc. I hope to belong with them
JUst had to make my thoughts known!

Hi Ron.
Thank you for posting this thread! I do hope you consider MM your poetic home as I consider you one of our finest poets. I think we have a pretty good mix of poets with different styles and goals. The competitive aspects here are for the taking but I trust they do not deter? One of the goals is to spark the muse to greater heights and in achieving that goal, we have the challenges, the Odin's Opposition and now the IBPC (which is a cool thing)!
Do you have suggestions that might help you find your niche?
Cheers
~Cleo
