YOU inspire me to scale blades of tall grass,
climb hills with two leaves on my back.

I pick choice flowers with a citrus scent
to lay on your three pairs of feet.

The black glow of your cone shaped head
is perfect mathematics and in its own class.

Dreaming of watching the horizon with you,
our antenna’s entwined in a fiery embrace is da bomb.

My world has turned from gray to magenta
the day I met you by the compost heap.

I profess to the world, I love you, I love you.
Don’t make me chase you. I lov – SQUISH!!

“Dang ants. They’re everywhere, Now,
where was I? Oh yes. YOU inspire me…”

Luce

Hi Luce,

Glad to see someone else down in this neck of the woods. You did a great job with the given words and IMHO, you are completely mad!!! LOL. What a great comedic turn at the end.

I read it two or three times to make sure you were, in fact, talking about ants. Still not quite sure what with the "Dang ants!" toward the end but a fit scenario for any cartoon.

Not a crit, just a question; but shouldn't that be "black glow" in S3?

I'm glad you like it Larry.

Why, that's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me. : IMO you have to be half mad to write poetry. :tounge

Ahhh clearly my friend you have not had a fierce battle with ants. I have (carpenter ants, sugar ants, and fire ants). When I see signs of their presence, I would scour the internet to learn their habits so I could do away with them effectively. In these missions I found out more about ants than I wanted.-UGH!

However, this lovesick ant is a composite of several types of ants, which is probably why he can't get a date. But, they all have the basic parts in common: six legs, segmented body, etc.

Yep. Guilty as charge. That's me trying to be "ultra poetic". Got snagged. I've changed it to "black glow".

Hey Luce,

Don't know if you have tried this remedy but I've found two great ways to get rid of nearly every type of unwanted insect including ants. Mix equal parts of boric acid powder and powdered sugar for roaming insects above ground and for those nesting, uncooked grits mixed with powdered sugar. Ants feed the queen first so they take the sugar coated grits to their food stores, feed the queen and due to the miniscule amounts of fluid in an ant's body, the grits absorb it and kill the queen thus killing the ant mound from the inside out!

Works with fire ants very well.

WOW!!!! Thanks for the remedy Larry. biggrin.gif

PS - Once I mix either one together, do I use a little make shift tray so they can feed off it?

Luce,

You really don't need a tray to serve up sure death. For the insects in your garden and yard, make sure the Boric Acid is liberally coated with the powdered sugar and then sprinkle it around problem areas like you would fertilizer or weed killer. Insects are very fastidious and are cleaning themselves constantly. The Boric Acid powder is to them like eating sugar coated ground glass; tastes great but it will really screw up their insides. As far as the grits/sugar mixture, I always scatter it around and sometimes on the ant mound. The scouts will find it and the results are always the same. A few survivors may move a larval queen to a new location but it will take them weeks to recuperate and they can then look forward to the same fate.

Hope it works for you.

Deadant, dedant!

Thanks Larry

Back to poetry! I think I'll be putting this piece in the FV board without explaining the 10 word requirement.

I want to see if it holds up.
