A Merse*

immerse
your arches deep
in soil that will produce
a splash of gold one day from limp
and dried up seed you'll plant in shallow ground
from which it shall arise to kiss
the wind that makes it sway;
you can't box in
a merse

* (Scot.) low level ground by a river or shore, often alluvial and fertile; a marsh

10 challenge words used, in order of their appearance:
immerse
arch
splash
gold
limp
seed
shallow
rise
kiss
box

Hi Daniel, sun.gif

I really like this form you've used, as well as the content. Lovely.

Did you think up the words yourself, or are they taken from one of the challenges? Sorry, I haven't had time to check that out.

Always learning something new. We had a 'merse' not far from our house on the apple farm where I grew up. My father was of scottish descent, but he called it a marsh. As children, we loved to play among the reeds when the wáter dried up and so did the reeds!

I'll take this opportunity to give you the link to the William Wordsworth snippet challenge on page 6:

All the same, I've posted it as a New Topic up top, as you'll see. It had become too long and very old.

I'm looking forward to seeing your reply to that challenge!

Cheers,

Where in the world is the Wordsworth Challenge. I wanted to take it up myself before commenting. My poor eyes have been totally unsuccessful after searching all three pages here!!!

Rhyme Royal Stanza

Growing Gold

Immerse the seed within a shallow box
with just a splash of water on each one
but make sure it’s the vernal equinox
for sprouts go limp when kissed by Summer’s sun.
Now build a latticed arch on which they’ll rise
for golden ripe tomatoes; super-size.

words used in order of appearance: immerse, seed, shallow, box, splash, limp, kiss, arch, rise, gold
