Septolet
The Septolet consists of seven lines containing fourteen words written in two parts with a break in between them, each part dealing with the same thought… to create one picture (to a degree, somewhat like the concept of haiku/senryu — which contain two snapshots of aspects of the same reality).
I stop
I stop
my ears
to hear
your fingers
singing
fragrant pictures,
seeing transparent love

gratitude for life,

Hi Daniel,
I love the simplicity of haiku, and this is wonderfully similar in essence. Thanks for introducing it and the examples. Each has an entirely differnt effect on the senses and ideas.

Thank you, Fran... I've just rediscovered this form myself and have not yet really gotten a feel for it, but I want to. I hope you'll join me in the quest? Yesterday, amid working on a series of acrostics during this month, I wrote this one in the septolet format:
LADDERS
Look up
and simply
dare to climb
don't fear
even one step...
remembering
safety

Hi Daniel
How will this do?
Poetry
Look down
and simply
dare to write
not worrying
if no one
follows
A glimmer of an idea?

Hey, Fran!
Looks like I got side-tracked again, huh? Sheesh! ... and after asking you to join me in the quest!
It appears that you're one word and one line short on this otherwise good start on your own journey into the Land of Septolet...
solace in solitude
wending trails
portend drudgery
on lonely trek
adventure
anticipates
withdrawing peace
from secret account

I’m debating
whether
I’m dim-witted
or simply dull.
You say
I’ll need
an aye-opener ?
