Ae freislighe poetry: is a poem of one or more quatraine stanza's' Each line containing seven syllables.

Each stanza has a simple four line rhyme pattern. abab.

1 X X X X (XXa)
2 X X X X X (Xb)
3 X X X X (XXa)
4X X X X X (Xb)

The last line of the poem should end with the same first syllable or word or line that it began with.


Here is my attempt.


Challenging the Foe


(My sword) I was flourishing >>> 4 (3)
He swivelled forward; air swing>>> 5 (2)
His thrust upwards challenging>>> 4 (3)
I shuffled quickly ping-ping>>> 5 (2)


He sprang inwards bellowing >>> 4 (3)
A plunge, his ear a plaything >>>5 (2)
I half-heard his blubbering >>> 4 (3)
(My sword,) in an arc, full swing >>> 5 (2) In my poem I used the first 2 syllables as the first two syllables in the last line.


Your poem can contain as many stanzas as you are prepared to take to tell your story.
