It is love, it is love alone,
Poor King Edward will leave the throne.
It is love, love, love, love alone
Poor King Edward will leave the throne.

It was early December when said by he,
He'll cede his throne to the new King "G'.
It is love, love, love, love alone,
Poor King Edward will leave the throne.

King Edward is nobel, King Edward is Great.
It is love causing him to abdicate.
It is love, love, love, love alone,
Poor King Edward will leave the throne.

He'll say he is sorry that regal he's not,
He'll fail to fulfill it, he'll seek his spot.
It is love, love, love, love alone ,
Poor King Edward will leave the throne.

Take his title and take his fame,
Take away his kingdom's name.
It is love, love, love, love alone
Poor King Edward will leave his throne.

You can take his wealth, you can close his door,
Just give him that lady from Baltimore.
It is love, love, love, love alone,
Poor King Edward must leave his throne.

Who know's what is in Simpson's vault
To cause the King to somersault?
It is love, love, love, love alone,
Poor King Edward will leave his throne.

In early December in thirty-six
The Duke of Windsor will get his kicks!
It is love, love, love, love alone,
Poor King Edward will leave the throne.

Hello Ron,

I'm having a little trouble accessing the lyrics time website, but found the song here where you can actually listen to it - click at the bottom of that page.

Lord Caresser

Interesting info here as well.

Hello Ron,

My not only is this poem beautiful, but the story is a true love tale. I too, couldn't get through your link, but found information on the link Eric provided. Thanks, Eric

Ron, you've captured the depth of their love and the idealism of letting go of such power, authority and adoration for this love. I quite enjoyed this, Ron and I thank you for sharing this story. I hadn't ever heard it before.

I love reading your work and always look forward to the beauty in your poetry.

Hugs, Liz

Dear Amethyst,
Sorry so much time has passed, but I'm pleased you enjoyed this one.
I was 4 at the time and my guess is you had not yet put in your appearance.
I suppose the "pond" would be a big player as to how this was greeted back then.
I wonder if the marriage prooved successful and what changes in history might have come from it?

Dear Merlin,
You've done it again!!!
Cheers and cheers, Ron jgd

Hey, Ron...

Even MORE time has passed now...

and I'd never read this one... excellent job. The only thing that I think you ought to do is to change the link that you've provided. The piece that it's now linked to is a disgrace (and there are a lot of pieces like that around, I know) that I don't think you want to be associated with.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading your piece with the singing in the background the Eric linked us to. Most interesting! And your calmer version tells the story rather nicely. It was a nice excursion back to that piece of history. You're so good at that sort of thing, and I'm shocked that I didn't visit this before. Where in the world has my mind been lately! It concerns me! Has it vacated its 'throne'? ... and I don't even LIKE Baltimore... except the Inner Harbor, which is a work of art itself.

deLightin' in your work, Daniel sun.gif

Dear Daniel,
I've expunged the site as you suggested. Merlin's is much the better.
The version I wrote is faithful to the original but has no malicious intent.
Thanks for the good advice.
Cheers, Ron jgd

Hi Ron,

I enjoyed your flowing piece and the humor infused.

It is love, love, love, love alone
Poor King Edward will leave the throne.
butterfly.gif ...great catch phrase

This one made me smile!
